Anesthesia and DNR (Do Not Resuscitate) are two important topics in healthcare. DNR is a medical order that instructs healthcare providers not to perform cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) on a patient if their heart stops beating or they stop breathing. DNR orders were associated with a lower likelihood of receiving anaesthesia during surgery, according to a systematic review and meta-analysis published in the journal Anesthesiology in 2021. The study analysed data from 15 observational studies and discovered that patients with DNR orders were 28% less likely than those without DNR orders to receive anesthesia.
