Dr Bassuni is a British consultant laparoscopic colorectal and bariatric surgeon. He was born in Egypt and received his basic medical degree from Alexandria University.Dr Bassuni has more than 25 years as an established Consultant Surgeon in the UK. He worked for the NHS (National Health Service- UK) as a consultant surgeon, lead clinician and head of department.He was also a Senior Lecturer/ Associate Professor in Sheffield University, UK. Dr Bassuni has also been awarded the position of visiting professor in Colorectal Surgery at Mansoura University, Egypt.Dr Bassuni has been the lead clinician (Head of Department) for Colorectal Cancer in a large Teaching Hospital and the Chair of Colorectal Cancer Network in North Trent Region of the UK. He was trained in the UK at : University Hospital of Wales (Cardiff), St Mark’s hospital (London) and Birmingham Heartland teaching hospital (Midlands) He also received advanced training in Europe at: University of Strasbourg,France and Perugia University, Italy.
Dr Bassuni has established a very active Enhanced Recovery after Surgery Programme in Trent Region, UK and co-founded the Middle East Enhanced Recovery after Surgery Society in UAE
