Session 1- Anesthesia
Anesthesia is the induction of a controlled, brief lossof feeling or consciousness for medical reasons. It can involve any or all ofthe following: Analgesia(pain reduction or avoidance), paralysis (muscle relaxation), amnesia (memoryloss), and unconsciousness. Anesthetizedrefers to a patient who is under the influence of anesthetic medicines.
Session 2- Anesthesiology
Anesthesiology is concerned with the relief of pain andthe provision of care to patients before, during, and after surgery. Anesthesiologistsare experts in the field who work in areas like intensive care, pain medicine, and critical emergency medicine, in addition to Anesthesia. However, the field's major focus is on the research and use of anesthesia, aswell as the safe support of patients during the operation.
Session 3- AnestheticImplications & Management
Years of research have gone into perfecting the method ofAnesthesia, which has witnessed many advancements as well as challenges. Scientists arestudying the impact of anesthetics on people like the elderly and cancersurvivors to determine which sort of anesthetic is best for the job. Analyzing anestheticconsequences aids in the development of new anesthetic solutions for improvedservice.
Session 4- AnesthesiaTechnology & Monitorin
Anesthesiologistswork in a complex setting, and high-quality technology is required to providepatients with safe care. Machine makers have been steadily adding innovativetechnology that promotes patient safety while also assisting in theoptimization of anestheticdelivery and lowering anesthetic gas waste. Anesthesiologists all across theworld have developed standards for continuous real-time monitoring of hemodynamic, ventilation, neurological status, urine output, neuromuscular blockade, andother factors that contribute to patient safety.
Session 5- Neurosurgical Anesthesiology
The diagnosis and surgical treatment of problems of thenervous system, including the brain, spinal cord, peripheral nerves, and cerebrovascularsystem, is the focus of neurosurgery.Neurosurgery anesthetics are utilized because the neurosurgical procedure isdifficult and uncomfortable. Anesthesiologiststhat specialize in neurosurgery are responsible for monitoring and regulatingpain as well as pain management before, during, and after surgery.
Session 6- Cardiothoracic Anesthesiology
Cardiac and thoracic surgeons deal with the diagnosis andtreatment of heart, lung, and chest problems. They assist in the treatment of Cardiovascularand Cardiothoracicdiseases through surgical procedures. Due to the complexity and invasive natureof the heart and thoracic surgery procedures, During preoperative, intraoperative, and postoperative settings, cardiothoracic anesthesiologistsprovide comfort and care to patients.
Session 7- Dental Anesthesiology
Anesthesia isgiven before dental treatments to lessen discomfort; in most cases, localanesthetics are utilized to relieve pain in a specific area or part of themouth. During tooth extraction procedures, general anesthesia may be used tocause temporary loss of consciousness.
Session 8- Geriatric Anesthesia
Geriatric anesthesia is a branch of medicine that focuseson the use of anesthesia in the elderly. For a variety of reasons, theperioperative treatment of older patients differs from that of youngerpatients. Some of them can be linked to changes that occur as part of the agingprocess, but many are also caused by diseases that come with age. Thedistinction between so-called normal aging and pathological alterations iscrucial in providing care for the aged. As the population lives longer, Anesthesia and Surgeryhave become more common. The perioperative care of geriatric patientsnecessitates knowledge of aging physiology and its relationship to surgery andanesthesia. Only skilled anesthetists can adequately evaluate patients andarrange for their postoperative care to avoid difficulties.
Session 9- Steroid Anesthetics
For the aim of general Anesthesiaduring surgeries, many artificial neurosteroids have been used as analgesics.Alphaxolone, alphadolone, hydroxydione, and minaxolone are the most well-knownof them. The esterified 21-hydroxy derivative of 5-pregnanedione, hydroxydione, was the first of these to be introduced. Hydroxydioneproved to be a helpful narcotic prescription with a good safety profile, but itwas painful and worrisome to implant due to weak water solubility. Thisprepared the path for novel neuroactive steroids to emerge. Althesin, a mixtureof alphaxolone and alphadolone, was the accompanying medicine from this classto be advanced.
Session 10- Pediatric Anesthesia
Pediatric surgeons work with children from infancythrough late adolescence. Pediatric surgery isperformed with the assistance of a pediatric anesthesiologist who is trained toassess complex difficulties and devise safe anesthesia for each kid. Pediatric Anesthesiologistsare specially trained to provide the safest treatment for infants and childrenundergoing surgery. In young newborns, airway problems and critical events aremore prevalent, and pediatric anesthesiologists serve a key role in ensuringtheir safety.
Session 11- VeterinaryAnesthesia
Orthopedics, soft tissue surgery, and neurosurgery areall operations performed by veterinarians, as are the most common surgicaltreatments. Veterinary surgeons perform complex surgical treatments such asfracture repair, kidney transplants, complicated wound management, and so on.Registered veterinary technicians or veterinarians can administer veterinaryanesthesia. Veterinaryanestheticis commonly utilized for diagnostic and therapeutic treatments because ofanimals' incapacity to cooperate.
Session 12- Obstetric Anesthesia
Obstetric Anesthesiologists usually consult with ob-gyn specialists and manage pain during both challengingand straightforward pregnancies. The scope of an obstetric anesthesiologist'swork may be limited to treating pain during vaginal deliveries and delivering Anesthesia forcesarean sections, but it is growing to include anesthesia for both maternaland fetal procedures. Cervical cerclage, external cephalic version (ECV),postpartum bilateral tubal ligation (BTL), and dilation and evacuation are alloperations that are special to mothers (D and E). Fetoscopic laser photocoagulationand ex-utero intrapartum therapy are two fetus-specific techniques (EXIT). Themajority of anesthesiologists' work on most labor and delivery units, however,is managing labor analgesia and anesthesia for cesarean sections.
Session 13- Obstetrics- gynecology & Anesthesia
Obstetrics-gynecological Surgeons are experts in procedures involving the female reproductive organs, such as the vaginal canal, uterus, ovaries, and fallopian tubes. Obstetricsis concerned with women during pregnancy, childbirth, and the postpartumperiod, whereas Gynecology is concerned with women's overall health.Intravenous, intramuscular, or epidural pain medicines can be utilized as anestheticsfor various surgical procedures.
Session 14- Risksand Complications of Anesthesia
Anesthesia-related risks and complications arecharacterized as morbidity(a disease or illness caused by anesthesia) or mortality(death caused by anesthesia) (death that results from anesthesia). It'sdifficult to quantify how anesthetic affects morbidity and mortality because aperson's condition before surgery and the complexity of the surgical processcan both influence the risks. The physiologic stress of surgery resulted innumerous problems and deaths due to shock. The lesser the rate of problems, thefaster the procedure was (leading to reports of very quick amputations). Anesthesiaallows for more intricate and life-saving surgery to be performed, reducing thephysiologic stress of the procedure while also adding a level of danger. Thefirst mortality directly attributable to the use of anesthesia was documentedtwo years after the introduction of ether anesthetics.
Session 15- Anesthesia Equipment
During surgeries, medical professionals frequently useanesthesia devices to help keep a patient from feeling pain and calmsurrounding muscles. Anesthesia canmake a patient tired or even oblivious, both of which are perfectly normalreactions to the drug. During the procedure, an Anesthesiologistwill monitor the patient's vital signs to ensure their safety and will alsocontrol the anesthetic dose. However, doing both at the same time can bedifficult if the monitoring equipment is outdated or difficult to understand.
Session 16- Regional Anesthesia and Acute pain
In the last few decades, regional anesthesia has seensome significant advancements. Because of the related improvements in efficacy, ease of performance, and safety, ultrasound-guided peripheral nerve blockingprocedures have become the gold standard. This has expanded regional Anesthesia's accessibility and use in the Anesthesiacommunity as a whole, which is important given the accumulating evidence forits potential benefits on a variety of patient-centered outcomes, such assignificant morbidity, cancer recurrence, and persistent postoperative pain.Ultrasound guidance has also allowed for the improvement of existing blocks'technical performance in terms of simplicity and safety, as well as theinvention of new regional anesthetic procedures.
Session 17- Benefits of Anesthesia
General anesthesia reduces intraoperative patient consciousness and review, allowing for the most effective muscle unwinding for long periods. It allows for complete control of the airway, respiration, and circulation, andit can be used to increase the sensitivity of a local Anesthetic agent while keeping the patient in the prostrate position. The injection of local anesthetic numbs only the area of your body that requires minor surgery(desensitizing the small area). The symptoms of local Anesthetic infusion are minor and are determined by the amount of anesthetic administered.
