Obstetric Anesthesia

Obstetric Anesthesiologists usually consult with ob-gyn specialists and manage pain during both challengingand straightforward pregnancies. The scope of an obstetric anesthesiologist'swork may be limited to treating pain during vaginal deliveries and delivering Anesthesia forcesarean sections, but it is growing to include anesthesia for both maternaland fetal procedures. Cervical cerclage, external cephalic version (ECV),postpartum bilateral tubal ligation (BTL), and dilation and evacuation are alloperations that are special to mothers (D and E). Fetoscopic laser photocoagulationand ex-utero intrapartum therapy are two fetus-specific techniques (EXIT). Themajority of anesthesiologists' work on most labor and delivery units, however,is managing labor analgesia and anesthesia for cesarean sections.
